Court record verification
Search the courts that cover where a candidate has actually lived, and report only what survives an identity match.

What a court record check confirms
A court record check asks the courts rather than the candidate. It searches criminal records at the jurisdictions tied to the candidate's address history and reports what is on file: a pending matter, a past conviction, or nothing. India has no single criminal database open to employers, so the check is only as good as the jurisdictions it covers. That is why it starts from a verified address history and not a declared one.
Pending cases and past convictions at the courts covering the addresses the candidate has lived at.
Which courts were searched and why, driven by the address history rather than by one city.
A name match is not a finding. Hits are tested against father's name, date of birth and address before anything is reported.
How far back the search ran at each court, stated on the report rather than assumed.
Whether a matter is pending, disposed, acquitted or convicted, with the case number as filed.
The court record or registry result the finding came from, annexed to the case.
Sources. District and sessions court registries, High Court records and the public case portals, searched at the jurisdictions the address history points to. Where a court's records are not digitised the search is run at the registry itself. Police verification is a separate check, run through the local police station or a state portal on its own timeline.
Where the search runs
India keeps its criminal record by jurisdiction, not in one national index. A search is defined by where it was run, so a report that does not say where it looked is not telling you much.
The criminal trial courts. Most matters that concern an employer begin and end here, which is why the search is run per district rather than per state.
Appeals and writs, and original jurisdiction in some states. A matter can sit here without appearing in a district search.
Appeals of last resort. Rare in a hiring context, and reported when it appears.
Matters heard outside the ordinary criminal courts, including designated economic offence courts, where the role makes them relevant.
How it works
Five steps, because the answer depends entirely on searching the right places.
The candidate consents and gives the addresses to be searched. Where an address check has already run, its verified addresses are used instead of the declared ones.
Each address is mapped to the district and sessions court that covers it, and to the High Court above it.
The search is run at each jurisdiction on name, father's name and address, at the registry where the records are not online.
Every potential match is checked against the candidate's identifiers. Common names return matches that are not the candidate, and those are closed rather than passed on to you.
A clear result, or the matter with its case number, stage and source record attached.
